Ale

A ‘top-fermented’ beer made from malt and hops. Ales tend to have a hearty, fruity, sweet, and texturally smooth character. Ales also are usually higher in alcohol content than lagers. The colour will usually range from light to dark amber and in the case of stouts almost black. The ale category encompasses many styles such as pale ales, bitters and stouts. The style is typical to the UK and is much less common abroad.

Unlike real ale the beer is no longer ‘live’ as it has been filtered and no further conditioning will take place. The beer will look, smell and taste exactly the same as when it left the brewery, just as the brewer intended.
