Real ale is a living product. It has not been pasteurised or filtered and has undergone a slow secondary fermentation in the vessel (i.e. cask) from which it is served. It is known in the brewing trade as 'cask conditioned'.
The fundamental distinction between real and other ales is that the yeast is still present in the container from which the beer is served, although it will have settled to the bottom and is not poured into the glass. Because the yeast is still alive, the process of fermentation continues in the cask on the way to the consumer ensuring a fresh natural taste.
Unlike our kegs our cask ales are dispatched by courier and therefore can be delivered to anywhere in England, Wales or Scotland (Highlands / Islands supplement may apply)
Please note that all of our cask ales are polypins and therefore do not require dispense equipment and as such will be posted out to your address. Allow 48 hours for delivery minimum and remember that settling time is typically 24 hours so please leave a minimum of 3 working days for your order.
